There are times as leaders that we have to make major decisions. We have to take everything into consideration: time, money, the team's thoughts, brand image, etc. There are other times that the decisions will cause us to PIVOT or shift directions. Pivoting is essential for the life of any business or brand.
With that being stated, you've guessed it! The Join the Journey with Dr. Latisha Webb Show has pivoted into a FULL BLAST PODCAST. We are no longer on The Grown Folks Radio Station. And there was no love lost. We are so grateful for Shelly Shell Williams and DJ KIDD DISCO for three months of teaching us the ropes of the internet radio world. It was a great learning experience for us all. Baby Bruh, Doc C and I gelled together as a dynamic team. In addition, Bishop Rudolph Mills, The Street Bishop, comes along every first Sunday and takes the cake with his street and church humor. Being on the station was a great stepping stone; we all have to begin somewhere. X marks the spot for The Grown Folks Radio station as the starting point for Join the Journey with Dr. Latisha Webb. After three months of riding with me on my journey, they reached their train stop to hop off. We are continuing the journey as a podcast while searching for the next radio station. The four most important lessons learned from being with The Grown Folks brand includes:

25/11/2020 0 Comments Introducing DJ KIDD DISCODJ KIDD DISCO is funny as all get out. He is from the 2-1-5 and loves hip-hop. He has been in love with music since 1979 and now in his 50s he is 'true blue to what he do.' His mother first introduced him to the universal language of music. Growing up with a mother who attended an Episcopalian church on Sunday mornings, watched the Eagles play on Sunday afternoons, and 'fought the power' every other day of the week as a single black mother raising her two children in Philly, he gained a life-long respect for the black woman. One great aspect about Eddie Davis, as he says 'my government name,' is that he has no qualms about expressing the love for his mother.
As the engineer and co-owner of The Grown Folks internet radio station, DJ KIDD DISCO is still growing. He built other internet radio stations; now, he is building his own. In addition, DJ KIDD DISCO is producing his first gospel show. Yep, you guessed it! He co-produces the Join the Journey gospel radio show along with Dr. Webb. DJ KIDD DISCO makes cameo appearances on the show representing 'The Heathen Corner.' Another great trait about him is that he is open, candid and honest everywhere he goes and with all he interacts with., which is a rarity. To learn more about DJ KIDD DISCO, you can find him on Facebook as Eddie Davis. He runs his Melanated Morning Show, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 12 pm EST on Facebook Live. You can also listen to one of his DJ mixes on The Grown Folks Radio station. ______ Are you a podcast junkie? Being an entrepreneur, community leader, business owner, visionary, industry expert etc., is overwhelming and forces you to wear many hats. One of those hats includes being a digital content creator. We continuously hear that our business or brand will not thrive without a positive online reputation. Mentors recommend to mentees to take courses on ORM or online reputation management. Especially since COVID-19, businesses and brands had to pivot online just to survive. Thus, ORM is more imperative now than ever before.
Which social media platforms feel more authentic to you? I prefer IG above the rest. Yet, I consume content from YouTube the most. With so many options, we have to be true to ourselves and select the social media platforms that flow with our authentic selves during each leg of our journey. TikTok feels too inauthentic to me. FB is a mainstay. However, I want to grow by entering into new online territory, but I'm experiencing some fear. There are too many options and once I commit I have to work on my ORM on that new platform. As we know fear and growth come together. Growth will not occur without facing fear. Thus, I am pondering which social media platform to add to my IG and FB accounts. Now that I have introduced the world to my artwork, I think Patreon is my new terrain. Who has Patreon? Who is a follower of a creator on Patreon? I want to hear from you. I heard a creator share and I quote: "I would rather have 300 followers on Patreon than receive 10K likes on an IG post." Do you agree? This is a paradigm shift for me; however, I am contemplating the statement and becoming more conscious of my beliefs and practices regarding social media. My thoughts are provoked and interests piqued. _______ Are you a podcast junkie? On the very first episode of Join the Journey with Dr. Latisha Webb podcast, I introduced my baby brother, Damien Gardner. I must say he gets on my nerves on the air equally as he gets on my last nerve off the air in real time.
It is a joy to have "Baby Bruh" join my journey in such an impactful way. I love my brother and only want him to grow and reach his destiny on all 6 Dimensions of his Authentic Self. I could not write this script of having a gospel radio show with my baby brother. The other aspect of this whole experience is that "Baby Bruh's Thought of the Day" is actually thought-provoking and makes me go..."ummmm." Now, who is influencing who more? I'm the big sister, but Baby Bruh poses challenging questions to our guests and shares from a perspective that I will never understand: Being a young married, Christian black man in America. Does that make you go..."ummmm?" To hear more from Baby Bruh, tune into his spin off podcast titled, Project Prophecy on Anchor and Spotify. _____ Are you a podcast junkie?
